Review 68: Feverish

< >

Art: 7
Plot: 6
Characters: 6
Sex: 7

My, I'm unusually harsh today! But for good reason, once again. This yaoi is split into two separate stories, which means that it has approximately half the plot depth it should, only in two different scenarios. Brilliant!
The first story concerns a horny uke who works as a host and, on his time off, bugs his friend/lover/whatever he is into having sex with him, which of course eventually works out somehow. The second story is about a seme whose modeling job leads him to investigate some lovely jewelry he saw on the job - no, I'm actually serious, stop laughing! - at which point he discovers a beautiful woman. Who is actually a man... They get together too.

The art is sub-par. The characters just aren't drawn with the quality one would expect. I'd say it's the eyes - not enough detailing. It just looks like someone was a little lazy with this one, except for the cover of course. Sigh - they tricked me again. It's like buying doujinshi alllll over again.

The plot(s) are completely bland and uninteresting. I was quite disappointed, as I actually bought this one. It's even worse because there are two different stories. One would think, what with two separate plots, that at least one might be worthwhile, but no... neither.

I think it must be a rule somewhere that when a yaoi is not drawn exquisitely and the plot lacks substance, the characters automatically become even less interesting than they would be otherwise. Something like, [a(0) + b(0)]c < c ......
This is, of course, where a = art, b = plot, and c = characters. So what I'm really saying is that having a terrible plot and art that isn't up to standards directly influences the characters and makes them progressively less... less whatever.
Damn mathematics.

The sex is very bla, to suit the rest of the novel. I could write an equation for this, too, but it's basically the same as with the character one. If you have bad art and a plot no one cares about, the sex scenes are not going to be enthralling. They just won't.

All in all, 26/40. *shudder*

Recommendation: You're better off reading something else with models... like, for instance, Embracing Love. Except they aren't models, they're Adult Video Actors. But hey, not a big difference.
